1929 Classic Yacht "OLYMPIA"
As a yacht insurance broker, I am always on the docks which means that I get to meet some of the most interesting people and get so see some unreal yachts.
Yesterday at the Ashley Marina, here in Charleston, I was lucky enough to meet the crew onboard "Olympia". Who gave me a brief history of the 97ft beauty.
Olympia was built in 1929 by the New York Launch and Engine Company for George Heck, who at the time was president of the New York Stock Exchange. She was built on the Hudson river, but has since traveled the world and been host to many including presidents, actors, and billionaires.
She will now cruise between Newport, RI and the Bahamas doing occasional charters.
