Things To Consider For Docked Vessels In The Event Of An Approaching Hurricane

 

  • Check your scuppers

  • Secure with as many lines as possible

  • Remove all Canvas/sail

  • Check Bilge Pumps

  • Charge Batteries

  • Unplug Shore power

  • Check your insurance coverage

  • Close through hulls

  • Close engine exhaust

  • Put out all fenders

  • Check nearby boat’s lines

  • Secure to pilings

  • Pull dingy ashore

  • Chafe gear

  • Close all hatches securely

  • Remove any valuables

  • Secure running rigging

  • Close LPG Tanks

  • Remove everything on deck

  • Remove anchors from bow rollers

  • Secure Lines to Winches as well as cleats

  • Close all vents

  • Secure items that are kept below

  • Remove swim ladder

  • Double Check the Through Hulls/Head/Sink/Vents.

Remember. Always follow your hurricane plan and take all other necessary precautions to protect yourself and vessel.
